Summary
  • The Associate Director is to provide leadership while being provided an opportunity to prepare for future leadership positions in the organization.The AD serves in the capacity as the unit's team leader representative and provide front-line leadership in assisting the unit in coordinating unit operations. The AD role combines education, orientation and mentoring to assure effective unit personnel job performance.Principle responsibilities will include directing the overall function of the assigned unit during an assigned shift, assuring unit is appropriately staffed, coaching of the staff and providing performance feedback.In addition, the AD will assess, monitor and educate the staff and assure safe, compliant care while meeting patient satisfaction needs and goals of the unit and the organization.All duties will be carried out with a focus on effective relationships with unit caregivers members, ancillary departments, physicians, other hospital leadership and ultimately, with patients and others visiting the system.
  • This position is employed by Mosaic Health System.
Duties
  • Supports the Director and Vice President in implementing objectives and recommending improvements that support the mission and vision of the organization, particularly as regards patient safety, quality and satisfaction. Is a participant in developing and maintaining staffing standards and guidelines; ensure appropriate staffing for shifts, ensure integrity of patient acuity data, and work with other departments to identify and resolve unit staffing issues on a regular basis.
  • Participates in caregiver development activities—interacting as needed with Director, Learning and Development Center and others to continuously improve outcomes.
  • Effectiveness of department staff. The Associate Director will contribute information in developing annual performance reviews and provide mentoring and coaching to optimize caregiver performance and assure safe and satisfactory care to patients.
  • Monitors caregiver and patient satisfaction data to define primary issues impacting scores and working with others in the department and organization to assure effective individual and team-oriented effectiveness. Will be responsible for visiting with patients and their family members to identify and resolve any immediate issues, as well as associated implications for caregiver coaching. The AD will learn and apply Studer principles to optimize effectiveness.
  • Participates in hiring, discipline, and grievance handling to assure optimal clinical and team performance. The AD will carry out these tactics in compliance with organizational standards and procedures along with local, state and federal employment law.
  • Maintains effective and professional relationships with Physicians and other medical staff, ancillary department personnel on the unit, and support services.Will demonstrate effective problem solving and conflict management skills at all times.
  • Monitors patient charts and other documentation to assure staff compliance with all internal and external professional and regulatory standards as well as to ensure a safe, clean physical environment.
  • Engages in self-development in clinical, professional, and managerial arenas.Collaborates with Director to meet personal and professional learning needs through informal and formal methods. Successfully complete required leadership development curriculum and new leader orientation.
  • In coordination and support of Director, plan and conduct unit meetings, encourages open communication and verbalization of opinions in an attempt to identify and resolve problems on the unit/department, and strives to reduce tension and anxiety among staff members.
  • Work with Director to assure leadership coverage of the unit as needed.

Qualifications
  • All required education is a minimum requirement. Higher levels of education are acceptable.Bachelor's Degree of Nursing required or must be in active pursuit of degree .OR Master's Degree of Nursing preferred.OR Related Master’s degree required or within 3 years of hire preferred.
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required.AND Clinical\BCLS - Basic Life Support required.
  • Relevant and recent clinical experience required.3 YearsProgressively responsible nursing leadership experience preferred.
