Position Overview

As an Associate Director for our Cath Lab unit, you will lead a high-quality team specialized in patient care. Our leaders provide guidance in clinical, financial, and personnel management and actively participate in department shared leadership and facility-wide committees. Teamwork is a core value in this department. You will also focus on building physician relationships, driving growth, staff retention, and fostering a learning environment to support our academic mission.

Department Details

Banner University sees approximately 250 cases per month. While direct patient care is not required daily, you will assist your team in supporting patient care on certain days. Join us as we improve lives through outstanding nursing care.

The cardiovascular service line includes four cath labs and three EP labs (overseen by the EP Associate Director), with close collaboration between leaders.

Schedule

Typically, hours are 4/10-hour shifts with days off varied based on departmental needs. Some weeks may require 5/8-hour shifts. Holiday and call duties are required, with rotation among service line leaders.

Position Summary

This role provides managerial and clinical support, ensuring high-quality, safe, and cost-effective patient care through clinical expertise and leadership in clinical, financial, and personnel management.

Core Functions
  1. Manage and facilitate patient-centered nursing care by serving as a clinical expert for staff and physicians, resolving escalated issues, and managing unit operations for efficient patient care and resource use.
  2. Lead change by developing, implementing, and evaluating quality and process improvements, utilizing staff input, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  3. Facilitate communication regarding system, regional, facility, and department initiatives.
  4. Manage budgets and resources effectively.
  5. Develop staff leadership through shared leadership models and career development opportunities.
  6. Handle staff recruitment and development through selection, orientation, coaching, performance evaluations, and creating a learning culture.
  7. Manage clinical units to ensure excellent patient care and develop leadership among nurse managers, leading clinical improvement initiatives.
Qualifications

BSN or MSN required for all new hires; BSN required within 6 months for internal transfers/promotions. Must hold a current RN license in the state of practice and BLS certification. Must have at least two years of relevant clinical management experience, with knowledge of specialty area. Additional requirements include critical thinking, communication, influence, decision-making, and flexibility skills. Knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease and developmental disabilities is required for LTC settings. Specific fingerprint clearance cards are required depending on the facility of employment.
