An established industry player is seeking an Associate Director for Opinion Leader Engagement to drive commercial strategies and foster relationships with Key Opinion Leaders in the biopharmaceutical sector. Cytokinetics is a late-stage, specialty cardiovascular biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing and commercializing first-in-class muscle activators and next-in-class muscle inhibitors as potential treatments for debilitating diseases in which cardiac muscle performance is compromised. As a leader in muscle biology and the mechanics of muscle performance, the company is developing small molecule drug candidates specifically engineered to impact myocardial muscle function and contractility.
We are seeking a dynamic and proactive individual to join our Cytokinetics’ team in an Opinion Leader Engagement (OLE) role. This is a field based, commercial role responsible for establishing and maintaining strong relationships with commercial Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in an assigned geography. This role will report to the Regional Business Director, East and the ideal candidate will reside within the East Region.
Activities include conducting in-person and virtual engagements using approved materials to support commercial related activities and processes involving KOLs. The OLE will be a key point of contact between their assigned KOLs and Cytokinetics to advance the organization's commercial goals and provide KOL perspectives into Cytokinetics' long-term brand vision and strategy.
Responsibilities:
Identify, develop, and maintain strong, trusted relationships with National and Regional KOLs across assigned Region
Facilitate engagements between KOLs and Cytokinetics, including brand specific engagements and with cross-functional leadership
Gather insights from KOLs on approved on-label data, publications and podium presentations
Capture insights compliantly and responsibly in an accurate and timely manner within Customer Relationship Manager.
Support the planning, advisor identification, and process for Commercial Advisory Boards
Serve as a strategic commercial representative on the Congress Steering Committee involved in the congress selection process, industry theatre and product theater recommendations, and evaluation of specific tactics.
Provide compliant insights reports and session summaries with appropriate audiences
Contribute to the planning and execution of the Commercial Speaker Bureau including speaker nomination, training, and logistics with the contracting process.
Monitor speaker utilization and serve as the primary point of contact to deliver speaker feedback to continually optimize speaker engagement and program effectiveness.
Compliantly collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Marketing, Sales Leadership and Compliance, to ensure content aligns with brand strategy and objectives
Lead or support strategic internal projects and initiatives aligned with objectives of commercial functions.
Coordinate KOL participation during commercial events and Local and Regional conferences, ensuring their involvement is scientifically accurate and effectively supports Cytokinetics' brand strategy.
Compliantly share best practices and benchmarking that help optimize the HCM patient experience to impact overall patient care within their assigned geography.
Pursue projects independently with a high degree of quality and timely execution.
Required Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of combined sales, marketing, or related experience which includes primary responsibility for engaging KOLs in the biopharmaceutical industry.
Cardiovascular or rare disease experience preferred.
Successful track record supporting product launches.
Effective communication, presentation, and project management skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and work collaboratively with cross-functional partners to achieve organizational goals.
Demonstrated ability to stay informed about scientific industry trends, thought leadership, and disease management best practices.
Ability to lead and influence without direct authority.
High level of professional integrity and strong commitment to compliance & serving as a compliance champion
Proven track record of consistently achieving or exceeding expectations in assigned responsibilities.
Valid and active driver's license and acceptable driving record
Ability to travel approximately 75% and proximity to a major airport
Comply with all credentialing requirements for any healthcare institution including routine background checks, medical testing or proof of immunizations, and training on facility policies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree, preferred.
Scientific background, e.g. RN, PharmD, or related professional background
Launch experience, preferred.
Opinion Leader experience preferred.
