Job summary

The Center for Advanced Computing at Cornell University seeks an experienced IT professional to join its leadership team as Associate Director for Consulting. You will lead a team of consultants delivering solutions to complex computational problems for faculty and research groups, including planning and implementing externally funded projects and HPC training initiatives.

You will partner with senior leaders on budgeting, service offerings, rate-setting and policy, while fostering inclusive

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• 7–10 years of experience in advanced computing support, research consulting, and training.
• Project management experience with overseeing grants, deliverables and budgets.
• Ability to work with researchers on projects, proposals and grants to ensure timely delivery.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills with remote and local teams.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; strong written and oral communications.
• Experience across diverse computer environments, HPC, cloud and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Direct a senior team of computational research consultants on engagements from months to years.
• Support leadership for externally funded projects and multi-institutional collaborations.
• Collaborate on center planning, monitor progress, balance team commitments.
• Draft proposals, plan and implement projects, report outcomes to stakeholders.
