Job summary

Cornell University's Center for Advanced Computing seeks an Associate Director for Consulting to lead a team delivering solutions to complex computational problems for Cornell faculty and research groups. You will participate in multi-institutional efforts and lead planning for externally funded team projects, such as online HPC training environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM; equivalent education/experience accepted.
• 7-10 years of experience in advanced computing support, research consulting and training.
• Project management experience overseeing grants with deliverables and budgets.
• Ability to work with researchers on projects, proposals and grants to ensure timely delivery.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills, including facilitation and coaching.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated written and oral communications, including presentations to groups.
• Experience with diverse computing environments, including National Cyberinfrastructure resources.
• Proficiency in computational programming and tools across HPC, cloud, and data analysis.
• Experience embedding inclusion and wellbeing practices into business goals.

Responsibilities

• Direct a senior team of computational research consultants on engagements lasting months to years.
• Support leadership and development activities for externally funded projects and multi-institutional collaborations.
• Collaborate on center planning and operations, monitor project progress and balance team commitments.
• Draft proposals, plan and implement projects, and report on outcomes.
