Title: Proposal Writer, Associate Director

Location: Remote (Preference for San Francisco or Los Angeles-based candidates)

Reports to: Senior Director, Proposal Strategy

Type: Full Time, Remote

Understanding the Role

Operations for the West Coast are coordinated from San Francisco. We seek a professional to manage regional sales support functions, producing compelling proposals, responses, and presentation materials that tell CCS's story and differentiate us. Candidates should have a genuine interest in nonprofit work, excellent writing, research, design skills, and experience with RFPs or proposals. This role involves managing deadlines in a fast-paced environment and contributing to nonprofits' missions. Exposure to various project types is expected. Note: this is not a sales or lead generation role.

Responsibilities

  1. Respond to sales support requests from the Senior Director of Proposal Strategy.
  2. Develop and prepare proposals, presentations, and supporting materials, including:
  • Setting and monitoring internal deadlines
  • Researching nonprofits to understand their goals
  • Writing, editing, designing, and tailoring content
  • Finding impactful images
  • Designing visually compelling documents
  • Updating templates and language
  • Collaborating with sales teams for feedback
  • Work with regional and firm-wide proposal writers to gather samples.
  • Assist with strategic initiatives like case studies and template improvements.
  • Qualifications

    • 1-3 years in fundraising, grant writing, or related bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Excellent writing and proofreading skills
    • Strong project management skills
    • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
    • Creative design experience (InDesign, Photoshop, Publisher) a plus
    • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple deadlines
    • Research skills
    • Ability to work independently and in teams
    • Interest or experience in nonprofits
