Job summary

Biogen is seeking an Associate Director of Data Science & AI to lead ML and AI initiatives across the U.S. Commercial function. Collaborate with Insights, EDM, IT, and Medical Affairs to deliver predictive models and analytics that inform strategic decisions.

The role requires 8+ years in data science and 3+ years leading teams, with strong Python/SQL skills and experience with Databricks, Snowflake, and Power BI. Hybrid work with 3 days on campus in Cambridge or RTP.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Data Science, CS, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
• 8+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or AI.
• 5+ years supporting U.S. Commercial organizations in pharma/biotech.
• 3+ years leading technical teams or large cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
• Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, and Power BI.
• Expertise in ML, modeling, analytics, and optimization techniques.
• Knowledge of commercial pharma data sources (IQVIA, Symphony Health, Veeva, Komodo, etc.)
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, validation, and deployment of ML and predictive analytics for the U.S. Commercial function.
• Identify opportunities to leverage AI to gain insights into patient populations and provider behavior.
• Establish best practices for model development, governance, and continuous improvement.
• Develop analytics and AI solutions to generate actionable clinical and commercial insights.
• Create models supporting patient identification, initiation, adherence, and provider engagement strategies.
• Integrate and analyze claims, EHR, and commercial data to improve access and effectiveness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate insights into business strategies.
• Communicate complex findings to executives and stakeholders clearly.
• mentor data scientists and analytics professionals and manage external partners.
• Operate in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with high-quality execution.
