Job summary

University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA, is seeking an Associate Director for the PPE program to provide primary advising for undergraduates and manage curricular, administrative, and program management duties within SAS.

The role includes student advising, budget development with the Faculty Director, and fostering cross-department PPE opportunities such as internships and research. Experience in academic advising and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree and 1 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• PhD in PPE-related disciplines strongly preferred; interdisciplinary PPE research background is advantageous.
• Experience in academic advising is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary academic advisor for PPE undergraduate students. Manage degree requirements, approvals, study abroad, progress, records, graduation timelines.
• Collaborate with Faculty Director to develop the annual PPE program budget and draft end-of-year reports.
• Build PPE relationships across departments to expand interdisciplinary courses and opportunities (internships, research, events).
• Assist faculty with course design, navigate institutional resources, and support professional development for PPE faculty/postdocs.
• Represent the PPE program at Undergraduate Council meetings and SAS-level briefings; participate in events and info sessions.
• Handle miscellaneous PPE program needs and special projects as assigned by the Faculty Director.
