Job summary

Penn State Dickinson Law is seeking an Associate Director of Academic Success & Bar Preparation to support University Park students and other campus locations. The role leads academic success courses, tutoring, and bar preparation initiatives, while advising JD/LLM students and coordinating with faculty and HR to ensure equitable service delivery.

The candidate will oversee program development, manage attendance, and contribute to resource creation, including an updated bar information webpage

Qualifications

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Admission to a state bar.
• At least two years of relevant experience in legal practice or higher education.
• Demonstrated experience or potential in teaching, tutoring, or providing academic skills workshops or training.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and teach academic success courses and workshops at University Park and other campuses.
• Counsel JD and LLM students through one‑on‑one and small group meetings to enhance study and test‑taking skills.
• Provide academic skills advising for University Park students under the Enhanced Academic Support Program.
• Oversee the tutoring program and coordinate with HR, student orgs, and faculty to ensure equitable service delivery at both locations.
• Support bar preparation courses by meeting with students, managing attendance, guest‑teaching, and grading assignments.
• Create and maintain a web page with up‑to‑date bar admission information, practice questions, and preparation tips.
• Collect bar exam results and draft the ABA Bar Questionnaire.
• Advise students on course selection and overall law school experience, especially during registration season.
• Refer students to Academic & Student Services and counseling resources.
• Attend on‑ and off‑campus events, including travel between Carlisle and University Park.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
