Job summary

Serif Biomedicines seeks an Associate Director to lead the development of lipid nanoparticle (LNP) manufacturing and scale-up, guiding a team of scientists and engineers. The role focuses on advancing LNP formulations from early R&D to higher-scale manufacturing, with emphasis on process development, analytics, and cross-functional collaboration.

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in LNP design, GMP-like scale-up experience, and a strong track record mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, or biomedical engineering and relevant industry experience.
• Hands-on experience scaling nucleic acid LNP formulations across upstream, downstream, and analytics.
• Familiarity with LNP analytical methods and microfluidics platforms.
• Experience mentoring research staff and junior scientists.

Responsibilities

• Lead LNP scale-up from small formulations to NHP scale in development candidate.
• Drive upstream and downstream process development including TFF and buffer optimization.
• Scale targeted LNPs (tLNPs) and perform analytics.
• Run micro- to mid-scale formulation on microfluidics platforms to support platform advancement.
• Integrate QC profiling and method development into process development.
• Lead and mentor a team of scientists and engineers.
