Job Overview

Provide leadership for the administrative and operationalactivities related to graduate student recruitment and admissionsin the Graduate Studies Office (GSO) of the UC College ofEngineering and Applied Science. Assist in the development andimplementation of recruitment strategies, programs and eventstargeting prospective graduate students as well as current andpotential Industry partners.

Essential Functions

• Assist in the direction of a student recruitmentoffice or center with primary responsibilities for day to dayoperations and administrative management; implement programinitiatives, answer questions and resolve complex issues; recommendalternative guidelines when applicable.
• Maintain and stay abreast of trends in recruitingand changes in academic programs.
• Assist with develop of long-range plans andstrategies to achieve unit, department and university goals forareas of responsibility, monitors and achieves establishedgoals.
• Recommend, implement, and interpret internal rules,policies, procedures, controls, and manage processes to advanceservice levels; develop and implement responsive serviceprograms.
• Attend meetings on behalf of the Associate Dean;consults with Associate Dean and GSO staff on major policy changesaffecting other departments; authority to grant exceptions; serveon various university, division and departmental committees,represent the department at various state and nationalassociations; represent the college and university to variousinternal and external constituents.
• Serve as the college resource to students onuniversity services and programs; explain and interpretcollege/program policies, procedures, and academicrequirements.
• Compile data required for internal and externalreports and assessments; interpret and disseminate information,provide advice, assist in development of recruitment andpromotional materials, deliver presentations, conduct workshops,ensure that all programs and services comply with university, stateand federal regulations.
• Maintain collaborative relationships withdepartments/units regarding recruitment efforts that enrich thestudent experience.
• Maintain working relationships with Dept Heads,Departmental Graduate Program Directors, and regional industrialpartners.
• Familiarity with marketing and outreach strategies,including digital, web, and social media channels, that supportstudent recruitment and engagement.
• Travel during key recruitment periods and workevenings, weekends, and beyond a traditional work week as needed toeffectively perform responsibilities.
• May provide direct and/or indirect supervision toexempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performanceevaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off,etc.).
