Temple University's School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management is searching for an Associate Director of Finance and Administration!

Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000

Position Summary

The School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) has a distinguished tradition preparing leaders in the sport, tourism and hospitality industries and consists of one academic department with multiple degrees that serves over 800 students with over 40 full-time faculty and staff. STHM is located on Temple University's main campus in the heart of Philadelphia, a city thriving with growth and opportunity.

The Associate Director of Finance & Administration will report to the Associate Dean of STHM. The incumbent is responsible for assisting in the development, execution, and evaluation of the school's operating budget, tuition, scholarships, endowments, external contracts, and adjunct/consultant hiring by providing support to administrative units, centers, departments, and research centers. The incumbent will manage and monitor revenue, budget expenditures including transactions, prepare and process journal entries, invoice payments, check requests, cash reimbursements, purchase orders, reconcile department credit cards, review and analyze fund balances; manage ad-hoc hiring of graduate externs, postdocs, adjuncts, and contractors; process payroll for student workers, and enforce operating policy and internal controls. The incumbent will assist with the identification of issues critical to the fiscal and administrative sustainability of STHM.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least four (4) years of related budget management and operational experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Experience within a higher education setting
  • Experience using Banner applications
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated computer skills, and proficiency in MS Office Suite software programs including MS Word and MS Excel
  • Demonstrated financial analysis skills, along with the ability to work with large data sets
  • Demonstrated ability to develop budgets and perform financial audit and reporting functions
  • Experience with Purchasing Cards, Cash, Checks, Credit Cards, or managing financial transactions
  • Experience having access to Confidential or sensitive Personal Identifiable Information
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer service orientation, including the ability to interact with a diverse constituent population
  • Proficiency in or ability to learn information systems including Banner, Cognos, Kronos, TUmarketplace, and Destiny1
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, along with the ability to handle multiple tasks with concurrent deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote) - the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
