Job summary

Merck's Translational Genome Analytics team in Boston is seeking an Associate Director of Data Science to lead computational oncology projects. You will analyze bulk RNA-seq, WES/WGS, scRNA-seq and functional genomics screens to uncover cancer biology and nominate targets and biomarkers.

Collaboration across AI, ML, biology and software teams is essential. The role emphasizes rigorous statistics, multi-omics integration and deployment of AI tools to accelerate discovery, with travel up to 10%

Qualifications

PhD in a quantitative STEM field with 4+ years of relevant experience.
Deep experience analyzing large-scale NGS datasets (bulk RNA-seq, WES/WGS, scRNA-seq).
Strong statistics foundation and ML experience with biological data.
Proficiency in R or Python, Git, and Linux; cloud/data platform experience.

Responsibilities

Analyze large-scale oncology datasets to understand disease biology and drug action.
Analyze functional genomics screens to establish targets and mechanisms.
Nominate and prioritize drug combinations using multi-omics data.
Apply network-based and ML approaches to integrate data into coherent conclusions.
Collaborate across disciplines to enable reproducible, well-documented research.
