THE JOB:

The Associate Director of Convention Services develops and leads the Executive Meeting Manager team. The incumbent must spearhead the development of training programs and ensure that revenue goals for the Executive Meeting Manager (EMM) team are met. This Associate Director must provide leadership, direction, employee development and strategic planning which are essential to the success of the Convention Services Department and the Convention Center. Effectively coordinate all aspects of convention groups which are assigned. Provide superior customer service with every client interaction.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:
  • Lead and coach a team of Managers to provide superior customer service
  • Administer and establish goals, policies, and standards for the department
  • Works directly with clients on room set ups, tradeshow logistics, rooming needs, billing needs and any other requirements pertinent to their program
  • Practices and observes safety rules and regulations and encourages other to do the same
  • Manages assigned operational functions within the department consistent with the strategic plan and vision for the department, and the division
  • Coordinate staff meetings, incentive programs, monthly survey reports, and special projects
  • Participate in corporate collaborative efforts to create consistencies in our services standards
  • Participate in site inspections, pre/post-convention meetings, meal functions, entertainment events, etc., with customers
  • Maintain positive working relationships with internal departments and outside vendors
  • Is responsible for the coaching and leading of the EMM staff and training for all newly hired Executive Meeting Managers
  • Works with team on establishing new ideas to streamline the convention services operations
  • Manages Human Resources responsibilities for assigned department(s) to include: creating a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect and employee satisfaction; quality hiring, training and succession planning processes that encompass the company's diversity commitment; adherence to the company's status quo third party representation philosophy; compliance with company policies, legal requirements and collective bargaining agreements
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The ideal candidate is a skilled hospitality professional holding a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, backed by at least four years of progressive leadership in convention services and management within a large-scale resort setting. They possess proven expertise in complex event scheduling, labor coordination, and cross-functional operational execution, paired with hands‑on proficiency in industry-standard sales and catering platforms such as Delphi or Daylight to deliver seamless, world‑class guest and event experiences.
