Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Marlborough, MA is seeking an experienced Program Manager to lead a high‑complexity Airborne & Sustainment program, overseeing development and production, budgets, schedules and customer relations.

You will direct cross‑functional teams, apply EVMS, manage ECPs, and deliver annual operating plans while travel up to 10%. A Top Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship are required.

Responsibilities

This role is onsite. Preferred location is Marlborough MA however Largo FL may be an alternative location for eligible candidates (requiring travel to Marlborough MA 2-3 weeks/month).

Approximately 30% domestic travel required.

What You Will Do
  • The Airborne & Sustainment portfolio in the Strategic Communications business area has an immediate need for a highly-experienced Program Manager to lead a high complexity program effort that encompasses both development and production activities simultaneously.
  • Lead all phases of a high‑complexity program, integrating simultaneous development, qualification, production, and engineering change efforts.
  • Ensure full execution of cost, schedule, technical performance, and contractual commitments using program leadership best practices.
  • Establish, monitor, and drive adherence to program schedules, budgets, milestones, critical paths, and key performance metrics.
  • Apply Earned Value Management to assess program health, develop EACs, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Direct cross‑functional Integrated Program Teams (contracts, finance, supply chain, operations, quality, engineering) to achieve flawless execution.
  • Serve as the primary customer interface, maintaining strong relationships and a collaborative "One Team" culture.
  • Lead and deliver Annual Operating Plans, long-term financial outlooks, PMRs, and business forecasting reviews.
  • Manage communication and coordination across multiple internal and geographically dispersed stakeholders.
  • Guide and support engineering change proposals (ECPs), new business capture, and proposal activities.
  • Lead proposal and baseline efforts for new product development as required.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 12 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience
  • Program or project management experience in government, defense, aerospace or related industry
  • 5+ years of experience in Program Management OR Related Project Management experience to include leading teams managing cost, schedule and technical performance
  • 10+ years of experience in leading organizations closely aligned with a program management office (Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations)
  • Experience leading engineering development programs with both hardware and software
  • Self-directed leader capable of executing Change Management and handling ambiguity
  • Engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) phase experience with DoD programs
  • Customer‑facing program leadership experience, with excellent oral, written, and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel for customers, company, and program-related activities (up to 10%)
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance is required prior to start date
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for security clearance
  • Demonstrated experience in Earned Value Management
  • Strong communication skills and experience presenting to customers
  • Strong working knowledge of and demonstrated experience with business and project management tools and processes such as EVMS, IMS/IMP, Risk Management, Financial Forecasting, EAC

The salary range for this role is 157,200 USD - 298,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
