Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is seeking an Associate Director, Commercial Technology & Data Engineering in Cambridge, MA.

The role leads a multidisciplinary team to build the commercial data foundation, data products, and integrated platforms for analytics, engagement, and AI-driven insights. The role collaborates with Commercial Technology and IT, driving roadmaps, governance, and scalable solutions while ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field; Master's degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in data, software, or platform engineering, with at least 5 years leading technical teams.
• 4+ years building data pipelines and platform integrations for commercial functions; pharma experience preferred.
• Experience leading engineering teams in an Agile delivery model with multiple pods.
• Hands-on expertise with the modern data stack: Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, and cloud-native orchestration (Airflow) or similar.
• Production experience with CRM platforms (Salesforce Health/Life Sciences Cloud and/or Veeva) and CDP/activation architectures (Salesforce Data Cloud preferred).
• Direct experience integrating Veeva ecosystem into a cloud data platform (Snowflake) via Fivetran or similar tooling.
• Experience integrating commercial data sources (IQVIA, Symphony, etc.) and HCP/HCO master data.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: Python, SQL, Snowflake, REST/GraphQL, CI/CD, IaC.
• Demonstrated ability to partner with non-technical stakeholders across commercial/marketing.
• Working knowledge of pharma regulatory/privacy requirements (21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA, GDPR/CCPA, MLR).

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the roadmap for commercial data and engineering capabilities with stakeholders.
• Serve as the primary engineering leader supporting Commercial and interface with IT for Commercial.
• Build scalable data products and technology solutions for Commercial Operations, Marketing, Patient Services, Market Access, and Analytics.
• Own and evolve the Commercial data foundation and data spine for integration across systems.
• Drive simplification by reducing point-to-point integrations and enabling reusable data products.
• Scale data governance across Commercial domains with quality, cataloging, lineage, and compliance.
• Partner with Platform Engineering and Enterprise Architecture to align with enterprise standards.
• Lead development of CRM, Patient Services, omnichannel engagement, consent management, and integrated platforms.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and compliant with governance standards.
• Lead Agile delivery across multiple pods and manage a multidisciplinary team of 6–12 engineers.
