Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. seeks an Associate Director of Data Science & AI Solutions to lead AI program design, deployment, and lifecycle across R&D QA.

You will bridge hands‑on software development with strategic business partnerships, delivering scalable AI and data science solutions with governance and compliance in mind. You will collaborate with stakeholders to identify high‑value use cases, translate complex concepts for executives, and mentor teams on LLMs, MLOps, and modern analytics platforms,

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree in relevant area and 5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech or technology related industry.
• Analytical & Programming Core: 5+ years of experience using Python, R, and advanced SQL to design and deploy ML, forecasts, or optimizations.
• Modern AI Engineering: Hands‑on experience with custom RAG architectures, LLM APIs, and MLOps practices.

Responsibilities

• AI Development & System Lifecycle: Build, deploy, and maintain advanced AI applications with traditional analytics solutions to solve QA business challenges.
• GxP AI Governance & Compliance: Collaborate to develop frameworks ensuring AI solutions meet regulatory requirements and validation playbooks.
• Business Partnership & Technical Translation: Translate complex AI concepts for non‑technical stakeholders and identify high‑value data science use cases.
• Leadership & Upskilling: Mentor QA team on modern tech stacks, LLMs, and data literacy; represent company in cross‑functional forums.
