Job summary

Wonder Group, INC seeks a senior Financial Accounting & Analysis professional in New York, NY. You will own areas of the P&L and Balance Sheet, lead month-end closes, and ensure GAAP compliance for a growing, pre-IPO environment.

Reporting to the Director of Accounting, you’ll collaborate with VPs across the business, implement ASC 606 guidance, strengthen internal controls, and help position Wonder for IPO readiness with innovative analytic tools and a strong control framework.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA designation is required.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience; public accounting is a strong asset.
  • Deep knowledge of ASC 606 Revenue Recognition and internal controls (SOX).
  • Experience at a public company or in an IPO-ready environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Own specified areas of the P&L and balance sheet for data integrity.
  • Lead the month-end close process and meet deadlines.
  • Communicate month-end results and provide variance analysis to leadership.
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements per GAAP.
  • Serve as an SME on ASC 606 and related readiness initiatives.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Accounting, you will be a critical business partner to various VPs across the organization, providing insightful financial guidance and strategic support. These roles are essential in building a strong control environment and ensuring our accounting processes are scalable, efficient, and ready for the rigors of a public company.

The Impact
Financial Accounting & Analysis
  • Taking full ownership of specific areas of the P&L and Balance Sheet, including the integrity and accuracy of the financial data.
  • Leading the month-end close process for your respective area, ensuring all deadlines are met and the close goes smoothly.
  • Being able to effectively communicate and speak to month-end results, including providing variance analysis and key insights to business partners and leadership.
  • Reviewing and approving journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies.
IPO & Technical Accounting Readiness
  • Acting as a subject matter expert on ASC 606 (Revenue from Contracts with Customers), leading the interpretation and application of this standard to new initiatives and business models, particularly around business to business relationships Designing, implementing, and maintaining a strong internal control environment aligned with established frameworks (e.g., SOX) to support our IPO readiness.
  • Assessing the accounting implications of new business initiatives, products, and partnerships, providing proactive guidance to business leaders.
Strategic Collaboration & Innovation
  • Building strong, collaborative relationships with VPs and other cross-functional leaders to understand their business needs and provide financial insights.
  • Working independently with minimal supervision, taking ownership of your area and driving continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrating an AI-forward mindset, identifying and implementing new technologies to automate and streamline accounting processes.
Contract reviews and analysis
  • Review material B2B contracts along with the business to understand terms and conditions, making recommendations on improvements and communicate operational impacts
What You Bring to the Table
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation is required.
  • Experience with B2B accounting, including discounts and volume related contract terms Minimum of 8+ years of progressive accounting experience Previous experience at an audit firm is a strong asset.
  • In-depth knowledge and proven experience with ASC 606 Revenue Recognition.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and experience with control frameworks (e.g., SOX).
  • Experience at a public company or a company that has recently undergone an IPO is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • A strong, collaborative spirit, a passion for leveraging technology, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get into the details to solve problems.
  • This role requires grit and resilience to navigate the complexities of a dynamic, pre-IPO environment.
  • Experience with Netsuite, Floqast is a strong asset High comfort level dealing with large data sets; ability to read and decipher SQL queries is strongly preferred
Base Salary

Base Salary: New York / New Jersey: $174,000-$183,500. Wonder uses geographic-specific salary structures, which means the salary offered may vary depending on where the job is located. The final salary offer will take into account various factors, such as the candidate's skills, education, training, credentials, and experience.
