Job summary

Qualifications

• CPA or equivalent certification is required.

• Experience with revenue recognition, equity compensation, and business combinations.

Responsibilities

• Own GAAP financial reporting, close process, and SOX controls.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; support Form 10‑K/10‑Q filings.
• Oversee accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, and treasury activities.
• Collaborate with FP&A, Legal, HR, Investor Relations, and Clinical Operations.

Summary

The Associate Director of Accounting will own technical accounting, financial reporting, and the monthly close process for the company, ensuring GAAP compliance, audit readiness, and strong internal controls. This role brings deep biotech-specific expertise: clinical trial accruals, CRO/CMO accounting, R&D expense recognition, and collaboration/licensing agreements, alongside hands‑on responsibility for the timely and accuracy of financial operations spanning GL, treasury, AP, payroll, fixed assets, and consolidations.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Accounting & Reporting

• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
• Experience preparing and reviewing for both private and public companies:
• Monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Form 10‑K and 10‑Q filings
• Audit support schedules and disclosures
• Technical accounting research and documentation
• Revenue recognition
• Equity compensation accounting (stock options, RSUs, ESPPs)
• Business combination and acquisition accounting
• Internal controls over financial reporting (SOX compliance)
• Understanding of & Experience completing:
• Clinical trial accruals
• CRO and CMO accounting
• R&D expense accounting
• Collaboration, licensing, and milestone agreements
• Manufacturing inventory and pre-commercial accounting

Financial Operations

• Ownership of the monthly close process
• Cash management and treasury support
• Accounts payable oversight
• Payroll review and accounting
• Fixed assets and lease accounting

Systems & Process Improvement

• ERP experience with programs such as:
• NetSuite
• SAP S/4HANA
• Financial reporting systems and planning tools
• Process automation and scalability initiatives
• Ability to improve close timelines and reporting efficiency

Leadership & Business Partnership

• Experience managing accounting teams
• Ability to mentor senior accountants and accounting managers
• Cross-functional collaboration with FP&A, Legal, HR, Investor Relations, and Clinical Operations
• Strong project management and communication skills
• Proven ability to partner with auditors and provide Audit Committee support
