Kinsale Insurance in Richmond, VA is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our Infrastructure Operations team. We treat our internal platform as a product and partner with engineering, security, data, and QA to deliver secure, well-architected solutions.

As an Associate/DevOps Engineer, you will grow your skills across a modern cloud-native stack, owning platform capabilities and driving initiatives from problem to production. This role offers meaningful growth and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field.
• Comfort working with YAML and version control (Git).
• Comfort working with AI tools and AI solutions.
• Strong problem-solving instincts and attention to detail.
• Genuine curiosity, a strong desire to learn, and enthusiasm for automating things and improving the developer experience through a collaborative, service-oriented attitude.

Responsibilities

• Work hands-on with Kubernetes, GitLab CI/CD, Terraform, and AWS.
• Build and maintain project scaffolding, CI/CD templates, and reusable modules for secure starting points.
• Build and run self-service capabilities so teams can provision what they need with minimal manual effort.
• Automate manual infrastructure and deployment tasks using Terraform, Helm, and Python/Bash scripts.
• Contribute to GitLab CI/CD processes to help teams ship faster and reliably.
• Operate and maintain our cloud-native environment on AWS.
• Collaborate with app dev, security, data, and QA to understand needs and support improvements.
• Drive platform engineering best practices through mentorship, documentation, and hands-on project work.
