We’re looking for a part-time cybersecurity professional for a short-term role, with the possibility for extension or transition to a permanent position. If you're passionate about social justice, experienced in cybersecurity, and motivated by the high-stakes moment we’re in, we’d love to hear from you.

Our company provides technical and cybersecurity support to small and mid-sized nonprofit organizations, many of which are navigating increasing digital risks in an uncertain political climate. With the mounting threats to civil society, our work (and yours) will make a tangible impact on organizations fighting for equity, democracy, and human rights. The Associate Cybersecurity Consultant will help social justice nonprofits identify and mitigate a broad range of security risks, assess technological vulnerabilities, and help develop and implement pragmatic solutions. They will be adept at simplifying technical concepts, fostering trust with clients, and providing ongoing support.

Our nonprofit clients have limited resources. They often come from and work with vulnerable populations. The people who work with us need to be able to truly empathize with our clients. We envision someone who can meet with clients, truly hear their concerns, and develop a plan to address them.

Our clients support vulnerable populations, including undocumented immigrants, the unhoused, LGBTQ+ youth, and abortion-seekers. Responsibilities Include

Providing direct cybersecurity support to an existing nonprofit client.
Conducting regular security checks, reporting, and retraining as needed.
Supporting tech system assessment projects by accessing client systems, identifying vulnerabilities, and contributing to findings and recommendations reports.
Offering ongoing support, training, and testing for clients and their staff.
Leading or supporting trainings that address the unique threats our clients face — including doxing prevention, recognizing social engineering tactics, and online vetting of potential volunteers.
Maintaining strong, trust-based client relationships with clear, confident communication.
Contributing to written content such as articles, white papers, and resources that demonstrate your expertise and build your credibility.
Meeting and consulting with current and prospective clients as needed.

What We’re Looking For

Strong cybersecurity knowledge and technical skills.
Relevant certifications (e.g., Security+, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A mix of specialist and generalist capabilities — and the ability to think creatively and solve atypical problems.
A quick learner, able to work with new technologies and systems commonly used by nonprofits.
The ability to deliver solutions that are realistic, affordable, and manageable for small nonprofit teams.
A commitment to equity and values aligned with the nonprofits we support.
Familiarity with popular nonprofit software: WordPress, Salesforce, Classy, ActBlue, GiveButter, and others.
