Job summary

A publicly traded healthcare REIT based in the Nashville, Tennessee area is seeking an Associate Counsel to report to the SVP, Legal Affairs and Corporate Secretary. The role will primarily support real estate transactions and will also handle corporate governance, commercial contracts, litigation oversight, and legal operations.

It offers an attorney with at least three years of relevant experience broad responsibility and direct exposure to business and executive teams.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 3–7 years of relevant legal experience, preferably with a law firm or in-house.
• Experience with transactional, corporate, commercial, or real estate matters.

Responsibilities

• Support real estate transactions including acquisitions, dispositions, financings, leases, and JVs.
• Draft, review, negotiate and close transaction documents with outside counsel support.
• Coordinate due diligence across real estate, title, survey, and environmental matters.
• Provide guidance on structuring transactions and practical business recommendations.
• Manage closing activities and maintain transaction records.
• Support corporate governance, board materials, and entity maintenance.
• Assist in litigation oversight, outside counsel management, and regulatory responses.
• Negotiate commercial contracts supporting operations and strategic initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across finance, compliance, IT, and operations.
