Job summary

Genuine Parts Company in Atlanta, GA seeks an Associate Counsel – Labor and Employment to advise on a broad range of labor and employment matters. You will work with cross-functional teams, handle investigations, and support mergers, acquisitions, and workforce changes while ensuring compliance with applicable laws.

The successful candidate will have a JD, Georgia Bar admission (or waiver), and at least 5 years of labor and employment experience in a law firm or corporate setting.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Member of the Georgia Bar (or eligible to waive in).
• Minimum of 5 years of significant labor and employment experience in a law firm or in-house/corporate setting.

Responsibilities

• Advise on a broad range of labor and employment matters affecting the company’s operations.
• Manage or assist with employment litigation, including demand letters, charges, and lawsuits.
• Provide labor and employment support for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, and other strategic transactions.
• Partner with HR, Finance, and business teams on employment-related due diligence and integration or separation activities.
• Support employment aspects of significant workforce initiatives, including changes to organizational structure, compensation programs, employee transfers, and workforce reductions.
• Handle agency charges and proceedings before EEOC, NLRB, and DOL.
• Advise on wage and hour compliance.
• Counsel business leaders and HR on employee relations matters.
• Conduct or oversee workplace investigations.
• Develop, review, and advise on employment policies and procedures.
• Draft and review employment-related agreements.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of labor and employment laws and share with teams.
• Train the HR team and managers on compliance with laws and internal policies.

Position Summary:

The Associate Counsel – Labor and Employment sits within the Legal department and is responsible for advising on a broad range of labor and employment matters in support of the company’s operations. As a member of the legal team at Genuine Parts Company’s Atlanta, GA location reporting to a VP - Legal, this position handles sensitive employment matters, serves as a subject-matter expert on labor and employment topics, and works closely with cross-functional in-house teams and outside counsel. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, driven, team-oriented, and comfortable working in a dynamic public company environment.
