Job summary

Rhino is seeking an Associate Counsel to build and run a contracts and governance function. This is an early-career, individual-contributor role reporting to the General Counsel and partnering across teams.

You'll own contract lifecycle, governance records, and regulatory compliance for insurance, financial products, and consumer services. The role emphasizes practical, business-minded legal support in a startup environment.

Qualifications

• J.D. and active bar membership in at least one U.S. state; strong academic credentials.
• ~2–3 years of legal experience in governance, contracts, and debt collection exposure.
• Experience in regulated environments (insurance, finance, healthcare) preferred.
• Exposure to data privacy, regulatory issues, and consumer financial services.
• Strong drafting and negotiation across commercial agreements.
• Experience building contract templates, playbooks, or structured processes.

Responsibilities

• Own contract lifecycle from intake to execution and renewals.
• Draft and maintain templates, playbooks, and standard positions.
• Support vendor, service, NDA, and data protection agreements.
• Maintain corporate records and governance across the organization.
• Partner with Compliance on laws and regulations for products and data privacy.
• Advise Product and Marketing teams on contractual and regulatory matters.
• Provide practical legal support for consumer financial services and debt collection.
• Coordinate with outside counsel on disputes and litigation matters.
• Collaborate with General Counsel and cross-functional teams.
