Job summary

Moveworks is seeking an Associate Software Engineer for Core Infrastructure to help design, build, and scale backend distributed systems. You will tackle foundational components including auth, data stores, and event streaming, while improving observability and performance across services.

You will collaborate with ML, search, data, and frontend teams to shape the infrastructure roadmap and deliver high-impact projects in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, building, shipping, and maintaining backend distributed systems.
• Familiarity with Python, Golang, Java or C++.
• Experience with containers/Docker and cloud platforms such as AWS/GCP/Azure.
• Experience with open source technologies like Kafka, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Istio.
• BS+ in computer science or related field.
• Desire to work at startup pace with ownership.
• Strong focus on performance, scalability, latency, and monitoring.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Work with machine learning, search, product, data, and frontend teams to inform infrastructure roadmap and execute projects.
• Architect and build core infrastructure: distributed key value store, schema-less data store, authentication and authorization, event streaming, configuration management and hot reloading, rate limiting and circuit breaking, feature flags and A/B testing, traffic capture and replay.
• Improve observability and reliability with distributed logging, tracing, monitoring, and alerting infrastructure.
• Define metrics to measure performance of microservices and product functionalities, identify bottlenecks, and improve performance and scalability.
• Deliver deadline-sensitive work interdependent with other engineering teams.
