Job summary

Ozinga Bros, Inc. is seeking an Associate Controls Engineer to design, program, build, install, and maintain the plant's automated systems under supervision.

You will troubleshoot electrical controls, update schematics, and document automation changes while serving as a technical resource for maintenance. The role requires experience with PLCs, HMIs, and various automation software; familiarity with NFPA standards and electrical safety is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in an industrial setting with 110v/208v and 480v.
• Strong proficiency in PLC ladder logic, function blocks, and HMI design, as well as installations and maintenance practices.
• Experience with Automation Direct Productivity Suite, C-More EA9/CM5, and WEG Programming Suite.
• Familiarity with Kepware for OPC communication and major platforms such as Siemens TIA Portal.
• Knowledge of NFPA-70 (NEC) and NFPA 70E (ARC Flash & Electrical Safety).

Responsibilities

• Program PLCs, HMIs and industrial PCs for automation applications.
• Design, build, test, install, and maintain control boxes.
• Create functional descriptions, flow charts, and control narratives for automation systems.
• Perform electrical preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Install, repair, terminate, and label control wiring.
• Commission systems and set up IP networks.
• Provide remote support for downtime issues via VPN.
