You will lead a team of 16 professionals, partner with senior leadership to strengthen internal controls, ensure compliance, and guide data-driven decision making through process

Overview

the client seeks an experienced Associate Controller, Financial Operations to support operational finance activities within the Office of the Controller in the finance division. This role is part of a complex institutional environment and reports to the University Controller and Associate Vice President. The Associate Controller oversees a portfolio of financial operations, including fringe benefits forecasting and pension accounting, payroll, and international operations.

Responsibilities

As a senior leadership role within the finance team at the client, the Associate Controller serves as a key advisor to advance financial operations and compliance. Responsibilities include strategically leading a team of 16 to support operational delivery and compliance needs across payroll, international operations, and fringe benefits and pension accounting and reporting. The role emphasizes consensus-building, strong interpersonal leadership, and maintaining confidence in financial operations and compliance activities.

Strategic initiatives

Beyond day-to-day management, the Associate Controller is expected to spearhead digital transformation and process optimization initiatives to improve operational efficiency, enhance data integrity, and strengthen decision-making. This is an evolving leadership position focused on operational excellence and long-term strategic planning within the client’s finance operations.
