Job summary

EKU Careers seeks an Associate Controller to assist the Controller’s office with financial compliance and reporting at Eastern Kentucky University’s Richmond Campus. This exempt, full-time role focuses on maintaining internal controls and coordinating audit activities.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in accounting or finance, with MBA preferred, and at least 5 years of accounting experience, plus supervisory exposure. PA licensure preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
• MBA, MPA, or Masters in Accounting or related business field is preferred.
• 5 years of related accounting experience; supervisor experience preferred.
• PA licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the control environment on financial processes and oversee year-end audit schedules (Essential).
• Oversee the implementation and direction of finance technology and related software (Essential).
• Work on projects to ensure university compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations (Essential).
• Support office functions by completing other duties and special projects as assigned (Essential).

Job Summary/Basic Functions

To assist the Controller’s office with all facets of financial compliance and reporting.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
- MBA, MPA, or Masters in Accounting or other related business field is preferred

Experience: 5 years of related accounting experience. Supervisor experience preferred.

Licensure & Certifications: PA preferred.

• 60% - Maintain the control environment on any financial or related processes. As well as oversee the production of schedules for fiscal year end audit. - (Essential)
• 25% - Oversee the implementation and direction of all finance or related technology (including software) - (Essential)
• 10% - Work on projects deemed necessary to keep the University in compliance with federal, state, and local, laws and regulations - (Essential)
• 5% - Supports the office functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned. - (Essential)
