Job summary

The City of Fairfield is seeking an Associate Civil Engineer (Plan Check) to provide thorough plan review for complex developments and public improvements. You will interpret standards, codes, and regulations, and collaborate with developers, consultants, and internal staff to deliver timely plan check services.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of civil/structural plan review experience and a CA PE license, with ICC Plans Examiner certification desirable and expected within one year of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering is required.
• Current CA Civil Engineer registration is required.
• Three years of plan review experience is required; supervisory experience preferred.
• ICC Plans Examiner certificate is highly desirable and required within one year.

Responsibilities

• Review and coordinate private development and public improvement plans.
• Interpret and apply engineering standards and municipal codes.
• Work with staff, developers, consultants and the public to resolve plan issues.
