Job summary

Interwest Consulting Group seeks a talented Structural Plans Examiner to join our team in California. You will review plans and specifications for compliance with city, state, and federal laws, and assist inspectors with complex code issues, while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.

Ideal candidates bring 3–5 years of structural design and plan review experience, PE licensure, and familiarity with woodworking, concrete, steel, and CBC/CRC standards. Valid driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• Experience with CA Codes specific to Structural design.
• Knowledge of wood, concrete, steel and masonry buildings/structures.
• Familiarity with structural design software and local codes.
• Ability to interpret codes and provide field-appropriate solutions.
• 3–5 years of structural design and plan review experience.

Responsibilities

• Reviews plans and specifications for compliance with city, state, and federal laws; communicates deficiencies clearly.
• Reviews building permits in relation to Building Division regulations.
• Assist inspectors with difficult code issues and answer plan review questions.
• Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders to support project success.
