The City of Fairfield is seeking a motivated and technically skilled Associate Civil Engineer (Plan Check) who thrives in a collaborative public service environment and demonstrates strong independent judgment. The ideal candidate will have experience performing plan review and coordination for complex private development and public improvement projects, including interpreting and applying engineering standards, municipal codes, and applicable regulations. This individual is a self‑starter who can manage assignments with minimal supervision, prioritize competing deadlines, and confidently navigate complex development and infrastructure projects while building effective working relationships with internal staff, developers, consultants, and the public. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

• Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering and possession of a current registration as a Civil Engineer in the State of California are required.
• Experience: Three years of professional civil/structural engineering experience in the review of plans and specifications and/or the analysis and design of residential, commercial and industrial buildings is required. Supervisory experience is desirable.

License Or Certificates

• Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License is required. Possession of a valid equivalent is acceptable during the application process.
• Current registration as a civil engineer in the State of California is required.
• Possession of a valid ICC (International Code Council) Plans Examiner Certificate is highly desirable and required within one (1) year of hire date.
• Certification as a California CASp (Certified Access Specialist) is highly desirable.
