Job summary

Super Steel, located in Mequon, Wisconsin, is seeking an Associate Buyer to keep our production floor supplied with materials, on time and at the right price. This is a hands-on, tactical role focused on daily purchase order execution and supplier follow-up to ensure on-time delivery.

It is a strong fit for someone with 1–2 years of purchasing, materials, or inventory experience. You will interact with suppliers, monitor inventory levels, and maintain accurate ERP records while coordinating

Responsibilities

• Place, track, and expedite purchase orders for materials based on MRP signals.
• Follow up on open orders and communicate delivery changes.
• Resolve pricing discrepancies and invoices with suppliers.
• Monitor inventory levels and reorder points.
• Coordinate quotes from approved suppliers and summarize for review.
• Maintain supplier, item, and pricing records in the ERP system.
• Arrange inbound/outbound freight as needed.
• Support cycle counts and other purchasing tasks.

Position Summary

Super Steel is hiring an Associate Buyer to keep our Mequon production floor supplied with the right materials, at the right time, at the right price. This is a hands-on, tactical role focused on daily purchase order execution, supplier follow-up, and on-time delivery. It is a strong fit for someone with 1–2 years of purchasing, materials, or inventory experience, who enjoys supply chain functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Place, track, and expedite purchase orders for raw materials, hardware, consumables, and MRO supplies based on MRP signals and production schedules
• Follow up daily on open orders; expedite late or critical items and communicate delivery changes to production, scheduling, and receiving.
• Resolve receiving discrepancies, pricing errors, and invoice mismatches with suppliers, receiving, and accounts payable.
• Monitor inventory levels and reorder points; flag shortages and excess stock to the Purchasing Manager.
• Request quotes from approved suppliers for routine buys and summarize them for review.
• Coordinate returns, rejected material, and corrective actions with suppliers and Quality.
• Maintain accurate supplier, item, and pricing records in the ERP system.
• Arrange freight for inbound and outbound shipments as needed.
• Support cycle counts, physical inventory, and other purchasing tasks as assigned.

Qualifications Required

• High school diploma or GED.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (sorting, filtering, basic formulas) and Outlook.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment

Qualifications Preferred

• 1–2 years of experience in purchasing, materials, inventory control or a related manufacturing role.
• Experience working with an ERP or MRP system.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy with numbers and data entry.
• Organized follow-through on many open orders at once.
• Clear, professional communication by phone and email with suppliers and coworkers.
• Sense of urgency and comfort working in a fast-paced production environment.

Work environment

• Office setting with regular time on the manufacturing floor and in receiving.
• Required safety equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes) on the shop floor.
• Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
