Position Summary

As an Associate Buyer, you will play a critical role in supporting the University's cutting-edge research initiatives. You will be responsible for negotiating and securing contracts with vendors, ensuring compliance with procurement regulations, and maintaining accurate records. Responsibilities:

  1. Review and approve requests for material, equipment and services in compliance with Federal Government acquisition regulations, uniform guidance and in accordance with University policies and procedures.
  2. Acquire specifications (design drawings, SOWs, specifications, etc.); identify and rationalize source(s); obtain and analyze quotes; negotiate; and input and track requisitions in an eProcurement environment.
  3. Acquire, qualify, input and manage sponsor, subcontractor and vendor business information for UDRI.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or related field OR Associates degree in business plus 3 years of purchasing experience.
  2. Experience with ERP system.
  3. Experience with eProcurement system.
  4. Experience in professional role with procurement fundamentals.
  5. Ability to read and speak English.
  6. Strong organization skills.
  7. Effective telephone, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  8. Proficient with Microsoft Office software suite.
  9. Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  10. Valid drivers license with low risk driving record.
  11. Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations.
  2. Advanced experience with Deltek CostPoint modules.
  3. Experience with Jaggaer eProcurement system.
  4. Experience in purchasing at a not for profit, research or Government agency.
  5. Certification through Institute for Supply Management.
  6. Familiarity and experience with ISO.
