Position Summary

Soccer Village is seeking an Associate Buyer to support our growing organization. In this role, you will play a vital part in procurement, ensuring that products are available for our customers. The Associate Buyer will work with qualified vendors, negotiate prices and terms for high-quality products, achieve sales and margin goals, and assist in managing inventory. You will help with our vision, ensuring strategic execution and alignment with our brand.

Your responsibilities will include tracking and analyzing economic trends and participating in forecasting consumer needs. You will build strong partnerships both internally and externally through clear communication and a commitment to Soccer Village’s core values. Your keen eye for trends and product curation will enable us to offer appealing assortments that resonate with our customers, with a focus on key items and fresh styles.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive sales and margin growth for Soccer Village.
• Partner with marketing and e-commerce teams to plan product launches, promotions, and merchandising strategies.
• Help manage inventory and develop merchandising plans.
• Purchase high-quality products with cost efficiency in mind.
• Take risks assertively and decisively with a focus on growing the business.
• Develop lifecycle strategies (pricing & exit).
• Research and understand consumer trends.
• Align the buying strategy with the brick-and-mortar strategy where appropriate; optimize web buying opportunities to maximize sales.
• Communicate the web buying strategy to key partners.
• Define key vendor partnerships annually.
• Leverage verticalization opportunities to maximize enterprise success, where applicable.
• Partner with the planning team to support in-season changes.
• Develop a strong understanding of vendor strategies and build mutually beneficial partnerships.
• Manage financial targets and inventory controls to pre-determined levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business or a related field.
• Professional experience in procuring goods.
• 5+ years of planning or buying experience.
• Strong digital consumer knowledge.
• Ability to set strategy and prioritize tasks.
• Excellent verbal communication and negotiation skills.
• Strong analytical ability.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
