Job summary

Weber State University in Ogden, UT seeks an Associate Bursar to lead student financial services operations and systems. You will oversee daily payment operations, collections, and accounts receivable, managing a team of nine and ensuring accurate reconciling of large tuition and fee assessments.

Reporting to the Bursar, you will drive enterprise system management (Banner AR, TouchNet, Argos) and ensure compliance with state, federal, and institutional policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive leadership in higher education financial management.
  • Minimum 2 years of direct supervisory experience.
  • Experience with enterprise AR systems and financial reconciliations.

Job Summary/Basic Function

Reporting to the Bursar, the Associate Bursar serves as the primary operational and systems leader for University student financial services. This position oversees daily payment operations, collections, and accounts receivable totaling over $200M annually, including the precise setup and daily reconciliation of $135M+ in USHE-approved tuition and fee assessments. The Associate Bursar directly and indirectly supervises a team of 9 exempt and non-exempt finance professionals, leads enterprise financial systems management (Banner AR, TouchNet, Argos reporting), and ensures university compliance with state, federal, and institutional financial policies.

Required Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Communications or related field.
  • 3 years of progressive leadership experience in higher education student financial management or enterprise financial operations.
  • 2 years of direct supervisory experience
  • Experience with enterprise Accounts Receivable systems and financial reconciliations.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred
  • Master's Degree (MBA, MAcc) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
  • Advanced technical experience with Ellucian Banner AR, TouchNet UCommerce, and SQL/Argos reporting applications.
  • Deep understanding of USHE higher education financial policies and state unclaimed property regulations.
