Job summary

King & Bishop in Massachusetts seeks a mid-level Associate Attorney to join its Medical Malpractice Defense and Long-Term Care Facilities practice. This role targets attorneys with 3–5 years of civil litigation experience who seek greater ownership of matters and meaningful courtroom exposure.

You will work closely with partners, manage diverse matters, handle depositions, discovery, and dispositive motions, and interact directly with clients.

Qualifications

• JD from ABA-accredited law school.
• Active Massachusetts State Bar admission.
• 3-5 years of civil litigation experience.
• Experience in MA state and federal courts.
• Experience taking and defending depositions.
• Experience drafting and arguing dispositive motions.
• Strong writing, research and advocacy skills.
• Excellent time management and ability to handle multiple matters.

Responsibilities

• Manage matters through all stages of litigation from inception to resolution.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, and status reports.
• Take and defend depositions; participate in hearings, mediations, and trials.
• Develop litigation strategies with partners and clients.
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda.
• Draft and argue dispositive and other substantive motions.
• Manage discovery and maintain deadlines.
• Maintain proactive client communication with case updates and guidance.
• Collaborate with experienced partners on high-value matters.
