Job summary

O'Hagan Meyer in Charlotte seeks a litigation associate to join a sophisticated practice and take a leading role in complex matters. The ideal candidate will handle research, pleadings, depositions, and pretrial work with supervision and client contact.

3–4 years of experience in employment, general liability, product liability, or related fields are preferred. Admission to NC Bar is required; SC/VA is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years of experience in litigation or related areas.
• Clerkship experience considered toward experience.
• Admission to the North Carolina bar is required; SC/VA a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings and motions.
• Take and defend depositions and represent clients in mediation.
• Prepare for and assist with trial, including discovery responses.

Job description

O'Hagan Meyer is seeking a litigation associate to join its Charlotte office. This is an excellent opportunity for associates to provide legal service within a sophisticated practice and who are seeking to assume a significant role in all aspects of the complex litigation process.

An ideal attorney will have at least 3-4 years of experience with any of the following: employment litigation, general liability, professional liability, products liability, real estate / property, HOA/Condo association and/or class actions. Relevant judicial clerkship experience will be credited toward the required years of experience.

• This role requires legal research, drafting of pleadings motions and other documents, taking and defending depositions, representing clients in mediation, drafting and answering discovery requests, trial preparation and trial assistance.
• Experience with both state and federal courts preferred, as well as state and federal administrative agencies.
• This position also requires the ability to communicate with both clients and colleagues in an effective manner.
• This position will require some local travel for court appearances, mediations, arbitrations, site inspections and depositions.
• A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a commitment to providing exceptional client service.
• Admission to the state bar of North Carolina is required. Admission to South Carolina and/or Virginia is a plus.
