Job summary

O'Hagan Meyer in Charlotte is seeking a litigation associate to join a sophisticated practice and play a significant role in all aspects of the complex litigation process.

Ideal candidates will have 3–4 years of employment, general liability, professional liability, products liability, real estate, HOA/Condo, or class actions experience; relevant judicial clerkship may count toward the required years. Admission to the NC Bar is required; SC/VA admission is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions and other documents.
  • Take and defend depositions; represent clients in mediation.
  • Draft and answer discovery requests; trial preparation and trial assistance.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Travel for court appearances, mediations, arbitrations, site inspections, and depositions.

Job description

O'Hagan Meyer is seeking a litigation associate for its Charlotte office. This is an excellent opportunity for associates to provide legal service within a sophisticated practice and who are seeking to assume a significant role in all aspects of the complex litigation process. An ideal attorney will have at least 3‑4 years of experience in employment litigation, general liability, professional liability, products liability, real estate/property, HOA/Condo association, and/or class actions. Relevant judicial clerkship experience will be credited toward the required years of experience.

Requirements
  • Legal research, drafting of pleadings, motions and other documents, taking and defending depositions, representing clients in mediation, drafting and answering discovery requests, trial preparation, and trial assistance.
  • Experience with both state and federal courts preferred, as well as state and federal administrative agencies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Some local travel for court appearances, mediations, arbitrations, site inspections, and depositions.
  • A proactive, team‑oriented mindset with a commitment to providing exceptional client service.
  • Admission to the state bar of North Carolina is required. Admission to South Carolina and/or Virginia is a plus.
