Overview
A nationally respected labor and employment law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Employment Litigation practice in Boston. This is an opportunity for a motivated attorney to handle sophisticated employment disputes while working closely with employer clients on complex workplace matters, with meaningful litigation responsibility, client interaction, and long-term growth within a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.
What you'll do
- Represent employers in a broad range of employment litigation matters in state and federal courts, administrative proceedings, and arbitration
- Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, and discovery requests
- Conduct witness interviews, legal research, and case analysis
- Take and defend depositions and assist with trial and hearing preparation
- Develop litigation strategy and work directly with clients to achieve favorable outcomes
- Advise employers on employment law compliance and workplace risk management issues
- Collaborate with attorneys across the firm's labor and employment practice on complex matters
- Manage case files and litigation deadlines from inception through resolution
Required qualifications
- JD from an accredited law school with a strong academic record
- Active Massachusetts Bar admission, in good standing
- 3-7 years of substantive labor and employment litigation experience
- Experience handling employment-related disputes involving claims of discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, retaliation, wage and hour matters, and other workplace-related issues
- Strong experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and related litigation documents
- Experience taking and defending depositions
- Experience appearing in state and federal courts, as well as arbitration proceedings
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent legal writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Preferred qualifications
- Experience providing employment counseling and advice to management teams is preferred
- Large law firm or employment boutique experience preferred
Compensation and benefits
- Competitive salary: $230,000 - $265,000 annually, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and class year
