Experience representing plaintiffs in employment discrimination or related matters is highly preferred, but strong federal civil litigation background in another area will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain assigned case files from intake through resolution.

  • Develop litigation strategies with senior attorneys.
  • Conduct discovery and assist with case preparation.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Attend court hearings and other legal proceedings.
  • Participate in mediations and settlement negotiations.
  • Assist with trial preparation and attend trials.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other parties.

Our client is an Indianapolis-based plaintiff-side employment law firm representing employees throughout Indiana. The firm focuses on protecting employee rights in matters involving employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, disability rights, employment contracts, and other employment-related claims.

The firm has extensive experience handling employment disputes and litigation in state and federal courts. The firm's attorneys regularly handle complex employment matters from initial case evaluation through litigation, hearings, mediation, and trial.

Position Overview

The firm is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of federal civil litigation experience to join its Indianapolis team.

The ideal candidate will have meaningful hands-on litigation experience and be comfortable managing cases throughout the litigation process. Experience representing plaintiffs in employment discrimination or other employment-related matters is highly preferred, but strong federal civil litigation experience in another practice area may also be considered.

This position offers an opportunity to work directly on substantive litigation matters, conduct legal research, prepare pleadings and other legal documents, take and defend depositions, and participate in hearings, mediations, and trials.

Required Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in Indiana and in good standing
  • 3-5 years of federal civil litigation experience
  • Demonstrated experience with legal research, writing, discovery, and litigation procedures
  • Strong analytical, writing, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to independently manage case assignments and deadlines
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative legal team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience representing plaintiffs/employees in litigation
  • Experience with employment discrimination law
  • Experience with federal employment statutes and related civil-rights claims
  • Experience taking and defending depositions
