Job summary

A growing litigation firm in Rancho Cucamonga, California is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its civil litigation and insurance defense practice. Attorneys of varying experience levels will be considered, including candidates who require additional training and supervision.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable handling cases independently or be capable of developing toward independent case management, with opportunities to manage cases from start to finish and to collaborate with

Qualifications

• J.D. required from an accredited law school.
• Active California Bar license required or eligible.
• Civil litigation experience preferred; all experience levels considered.
• Insurance defense experience is a plus but not required.
• Strong research, writing, analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle civil litigation and insurance defense matters from assignment to resolution.
• Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions and briefs.
• Participate in discovery, depositions, hearings and court proceedings.
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel and insurance carriers.
• Develop case strategy and manage matters independently when appropriate.

Job description

A growing litigation firm in Rancho Cucamonga, California is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its civil litigation and insurance defense practice. Attorneys of varying experience levels will be considered, including candidates who require additional training and supervision.The ideal candidate will be comfortable handling cases independently or be capable of developing toward independent case management.

Responsibilities

• Handle a caseload involving civil litigation and insurance defense matters
• Manage cases from initial assignment through resolution
• Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents
• Participate in discovery, depositions, hearings, and court proceedings
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, insurance carriers, and other parties
• Develop case strategy and work toward favorable resolutions
• Handle assigned matters independently when appropriate, with training and supervision available as needed
• Maintain accurate case files and meet applicable deadlines and billing requirements

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Active California Bar license
• Civil litigation experience preferred, but attorneys at various experience levels will be considered
• Insurance defense experience is a plus but not required
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple matters and prioritize deadlines
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with attorneys and staff
• Willingness to learn and develop within the firm's practice

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary depending on experience and capabilities
• Compensation may increase based on experience, ability to independently handle cases, and billable performance

• Billable-hour expectations are approximately 1,920 annually, with flexibility based on the individual attorney

Location

The firm is located in Rancho Cucamonga, California. Candidates who live within a reasonable driving distance are preferred, with proximity to the office being a consideration.
