Acker & Whipple, a Los Angeles defense litigation practice established in 1979, seeks associate attorneys to represent insured and self-insured businesses in manufacturing, transportation, retail, hospitality, real estate management, financial industries, governmental entities, and schools. Responsibilities include all aspects of litigation, preparation of pleadings, motions, discovery, legal research and analysis, investigation of case facts, and evaluation of potential liability and damages exposure. Associates conduct and defend depositions, make court appearances, prepare for and assist at trial, argue before judges and juries, provide updates and recommendations to clients, and maintain a calendar and record of work in progress and anticipated tasks from pleadings and discovery through dispute resolution or trial, under guidance from senior attorneys.

Education: J.D.

Professional Certification: California Law License

Experience: Two years of litigation experience, including depositions, law, and motion work, is preferred.

Work Environment: Typical business casual attire; court appearances require business attire. Some work at home is possible once familiar with office routines and personnel.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
