Job description

Coombe Curry Rich & Jarvis, a distinguished full-service civil law firm with over 30 years of experience. Our attorneys are nationally respected not only for their legal acumen but also for the high regard in which they are held by peers across the industry. Several of our lawyers have been named “Super Lawyers,” a prestigious recognition that highlights their exceptional skills, dedication, and ability to deliver top-tier results and we’re seeking a driven Associate Attorney ready to contribute and grow within a collaborative, forward-thinking environment.

CCRJ offers a professional, collaborative environment where mentorship is intentional and high standards are paired with mutual respect. You’ll work alongside experienced Partners representing clients in civil defense litigation, insurance claims, bodily injury, construction defect disputes, family and estate law. This role requires the ability to process all phases of litigation from investigation, pleadings, discovery to pre-trial, trial, settlement, and appeal.

The responsibilities and support for the successful candidate include:

  • Legal Expertise: experience in legal research, writing, analysis, alongside verbal communication skills, organizational abilities, and professional presentation.
  • Drafting Pleadings: Preparing legal documents for complaints or petitions to initiate or respond to legal actions, including drafting motions, discovery requests, and other court filings.
  • Discovery Management: Overseeing the discovery process, which includes obtaining and reviewing technical evidence from the opposing party, such as documents, depositions, and interrogatories. Researching comprehensive investigations into claims and disputes, which may entail gathering evidence, consulting with experts (such as engineers or architects), and documenting the nature and extent of the material.
  • Court Representation: Supporting Firm Partner (s) in representing clients for preparation in court hearings, trials, or arbitration, presenting evidence, and making legal arguments to advocate for the client’s interests.
  • Client Communication: Keeping clients updated on their case progress, clarifying legal options, and advising on strategic decisions throughout the litigation process.
  • Compliance Assurance: Ensuring all legal actions align with applicable laws and regulations, safeguarding the interests of both the Firm and its clients throughout the case and litigation process.
  • Proactive Work Ethic: Being a self-starter capable of working independently and collaboratively with varying time constraints to produce high-quality work.
  • Time Management and Attention to Detail: Essential skills include effective time management, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks while maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the case cycle and timeline.

While we appreciate strong skills and experience, your personality, attitude, character and integrity are equally, if not, more important. We have a cooperative and collaborative work environment, one that is people-oriented and focused on delivering exceptional results for our clients. All our attorneys and support staff work hybrid remote schedules after successful onboarding and training, so your ability to be proactive and reliable is critical to your success and the CCRJ team.

Requirements
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Must have an active CO Bar License to actively practice law in the state of Colorado
  • 1-2+ years legal experience in civil procedure, litigation case management, legal research, writing, analysis, alongside professional communication skills, organizational abilities, and presentation
  • Maintain a monthly 150-hour billable requirement

Job Type: Full-time - Office Hybrid Schedule

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Compensation: Salary will be commensurate with experience.

  • Experience 1-2 years: Starting annual base salary range $85,000 - $100,00 plus benefits, and the potential for additional compensation through incentive/bonus structures, and discretionary bonuses.

At CCRJ, we are committed to fostering a culturally diverse environment and work to promote the personal and professional well-being of our employees. We firmly believe our delivery of exceptional client service is achieved when our teams reflect the diversity of those we serve and represent.

This position will be filled in Denver, CO and in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay Act.
