Job summary

Johnson Bakken Smith, P.C. (Denver metro) seeks an Associate Attorney to support litigation from investigation through trial and appeal. You will conduct legal research, draft pleadings and motions, and assist with discovery while collaborating with senior lawyers on case strategy.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Law, with the ability to apply legal principles across diverse litigation matters.
  • Knowledge or coursework in torts, negligence, strict products liability, aviation, or construction defect.
  • Ability to provide clear, well-reasoned Legal Advice under supervision, focused on client needs and risk assessment.
  • Proficiency in legal Research, including case law, statutes, regulations, and technical materials relevant to complex litigation.
  • Developing Negotiation skills for settlement discussions, mediation, and client advocacy.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and admission to, or recently completion of the Colorado Bar.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail in drafting and editing legal documents.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a litigation team, manage multiple tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Comfort with technology, including legal research platforms, case management tools, and presentation software.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and commitment to client-focused service.
  • Salary commiserate with experience within $90,000 - $125,000 range.

Role Description The Associate Attorney will support litigation matters from initial investigation through trial and appeal in a full-time, on-site role located in Centennial, CO. Daily responsibilities include conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and memoranda, and assisting with discovery, including document review, interrogatories, and depositions. The attorney will collaborate with senior lawyers to prepare case strategy, attend court hearings, and participate in client meetings and communications. The role also involves analyzing complex medical, scientific, and technical materials to help build persuasive arguments and trial presentations. The associate will be expected to manage deadlines, maintain organized case files, and uphold high standards of professional ethics and client service.
