Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in immigration litigation matters, including removal defense, asylum claims, bond hearings, appeals and related proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare motions, briefs, appeals, applications, and other filings in immigration and criminal matters.
  • Appear before immigration courts and other federal or state courts as required.
  • Regularly travel by car to courts and other legal proceedings as required.
  • Review case facts, identify legal issues, and develop effective case strategies.
  • Advise clients regarding their legal rights, options, and potential outcomes.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings, interviews, and other proceedings.
  • Manage an assigned caseload while meeting court deadlines and client commitments.
  • Maintain complete and accurate case files, notes, deadlines, and documentation.
  • Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status and next steps.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys, legal assistants, and other Firm associates to move cases forward.
  • Handle select criminal law matters based on experience and Firm needs.

We help individuals, families, and businesses throughout the United States and abroad navigate complex immigration matters. Our work includes removal defense, asylum, family immigration, employment immigration, naturalization, and corporate immigration compliance.

We are seeking a dedicated Associate Attorney to join our team. This position will focus primarily on immigration litigation, with opportunities to handle select criminal law matters. The attorney will represent clients in court proceedings, develop case strategies, prepare legal filings, and provide clear and thoughtful guidance throughout each matter. The ideal candidate is a strong advocate who can manage cases responsibly while working collaboratively with attorneys and other Firm associates.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Represent clients in immigration litigation matters, including removal defense, asylum claims, bond hearings, appeals, and related proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare motions, briefs, appeals, applications, and other filings in immigration and criminal matters.
  • Appear before immigration courts and other federal or state courts as required.

WHAT WILL SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS
  • You are currently licensed and in good standing to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • You have strong legal research, writing, analysis, and oral advocacy skills.
  • You can manage multiple cases, competing priorities, court appearances, and strict deadlines in a fast paced environment.
  • You communicate complex legal information clearly and compassionately.
  • You exercise sound legal judgment and recognize when consultation or escalation is appropriate.
  • You are organized, detail oriented, and committed to maintaining complete and accurate case records.
  • You can work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and other Firm associates.
  • You are comfortable learning new systems and using technology responsibly while protecting confidential information.

Experience or a strong demonstrated interest in immigration law is preferred. Immigration litigation, courtroom, hearing, appellate, or criminal law experience is helpful but not required. Admission to practice law in Ohio is preferred but not required.

Candidates who are fluent in a language other than English will receive additional consideration, although foreign language fluency is not required.

COMPENSATION

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $90,000 to $110,000 per year.

Starting pay will be determined based on the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, language proficiency, legal knowledge, licensure, and other job related qualifications.

LOCATION

This is a full time, in person position based in downtown Columbus, Ohio. The regular schedule is 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Court appearances, client needs, and filing deadlines may occasionally require work outside the regular schedule.
