Job summary

The Law Offices of Thomas Stahl in Columbia, MD, seeks an associate attorney for a collaborative, fast-paced practice focused on family law and estate planning.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of litigation experience, preferably in family law, and understands estate planning, guardianships, probate, or estate litigation. Strong writing and communication skills are essential, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Clio helpful.

Qualifications

• MD Bar admission required; DC Bar admission a plus.
• Minimum 1 year of litigation experience, preferably in family law.
• Experience with estate planning, guardianships, probate, or estate litigation a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

• Manage a caseload spanning family law, estate planning, guardianship, probate, and estate litigation.
• Draft motions, pleadings, discovery requests, financial statements, and other legal documents.
• Take depositions and affidavits of clients and witnesses.
• Conduct and analyze legal research.
• Manage shifting timelines and competing priorities across multiple active cases.
• Set and manage client expectations throughout the representation.
• Support other case types as needed.

About the Role:

We're looking for a candidate with litigation experience, ideally in family law. Experience in estate planning, probate, or estate litigation is a strong plus.
