This fully remote role requires a California bar admission, a J.D., and 2+ years of civil litigation or insurance defense experience. The firm offers a competitive base salary commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Handle written discovery and respond to discovery requests.
• Prepare for and participate in depositions, mediations, hearings, and settlement conferences.
• Communicate with insurance carriers, claims professionals, insureds, opposing counsel, experts, and witnesses.
• Evaluate liability, damages, exposure, and settlement considerations.
• Develop case strategies to efficiently resolve matters.
• Participate in settlement negotiations and provide regular case evaluations and recommendations.
• Assist with trial preparation and actively participate in trial proceedings.

A well-established California litigation practice is seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Attorney to join its growing insurance defense team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 2+ years of civil litigation or insurance defense experience who is looking to take on meaningful, sophisticated matters while enjoying the flexibility of a fully remote position.

The practice represents insurance carriers, insureds, businesses, and other clients in a broad range of liability and civil litigation matters. Attorneys have the opportunity to handle cases from inception through resolution and gain exposure to complex disputes across multiple areas of civil defense litigation.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of civil litigation and insurance defense matters from inception through resolution.
• Analyze legal and factual issues and develop effective defense strategies.
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other substantive legal documents.
• Handle written discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests.
• Prepare for and participate in depositions, mediations, hearings, settlement conferences, and other litigation proceedings.
• Communicate directly with insurance carriers, claims professionals, insureds, opposing counsel, experts, and witnesses.
• Evaluate liability, damages, exposure, and settlement considerations.
• Develop case strategies designed to efficiently and effectively resolve matters.
• Participate in settlement negotiations and provide clients and carriers with regular case evaluations and recommendations.
• Assist with trial preparation and, depending on experience, take an active role in trial proceedings.
• Maintain organized case files and ensure compliance with court deadlines, client requirements, and applicable procedures.

$130,000 – $250,000 base salary, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and level of responsibility.
