Job summary

Amgen is seeking an Associate Data Scientist in Thousand Oaks, CA, to join the Obesity Intelligence & Analytics (OI&A) organization. You will deliver advanced data science, software engineering, and GenAI solutions across enterprise functions, shaping simple, viable solutions and coordinating delivery with stakeholders.

The role combines AI/ML, GenAI, RAG, and production operations, with emphasis on end-to-end design, security, governance, and production readiness across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or related field.
• Diploma with 2+ years of experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
• Strong hands-on proficiency in Python and SQL for production software.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery by clarifying business workflow, users, outcome, and data readiness.
• Translate complex problems into executable solution design, plan, milestones, risks and release approach.
• Build or contribute to critical production components including AI-enabled applications, RAG, agents, and APIs.
• Define and maintain the integrated architecture across workflows, data and knowledge pipelines.
• Coordinate full-stack delivery across software, AI engineering, data science and platform teams.
• Establish integrated testing and governance for functional, performance, security and data considerations.
