Job summary

Woodland Middle School is seeking an Assistant Wrestling Coach to support the Head Coach in developing student-athletes and fostering discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork. The role is 2.5 days per week with start date 10/19/2026 at Woodland Middle School.

The district emphasizes preparing students for career, life, and college, and expects attendance and compliance with WIAA requirements. This position is not eligible for certain benefits.

Qualifications

• Background check is required.
• Current Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification.
• Must complete WIAA online courses and WSD head coach checklists.
• Must maintain WIAA coaching clock hours.
• Must pass a screening test to provide transportation for student-athletes.
• Regular and punctual attendance to meet program requirements.
• Previous coaching experience preferred.
• Twenty-one years old.

Responsibilities

• Promote and uphold the core values of the school's Athletic Program.
• Serve as a positive role model for students and staff.
• Assist the head coach in planning, organizing, and delivering the team’s activities.
• Assist the head coach at all practices and games.
• Support sports promotion and development.
• Work effectively as part of a team and contribute to game-day prep.
• Monitor adherence to training rules, lettering policies, and GPA requirements.
• Supervise athletes on field, in conditioning, and in locker/shower rooms.
• Ensure health and safety precautions during all activities.
• Report major injuries to the Head Coach, Athletic Director, and Principal.
• Learn techniques, skills, philosophy, rules, and strategies.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
