Qualifications

• Extensive experience supervising corrections staff.
• Extensive and progressive security management experience in corrections or law enforcement.
• DCJS Certification.
• Knowledge of VADOC policies, procedures, and practices.
• Knowledge of institutional operations, security, inmate programs and classification.
• Ability to analyze and resolve problems.
• Ability to lead, develop and counsel staff.
• Effective communication with all levels and the public.

Responsibilities

• Directs security, treatment, medical, safety, and food service operations within the facility.
• Provides daily leadership and supervision to department heads to ensure policy compliance.
• Leads staff development, counseling, and disciplinary actions.
• Assists the Warden in long-term security planning and contingency planning.
• Interacts with management, staff, visitors, inmates, and the public to maintain secure operations.
